India captain Rohit Sharma stated on Tuesday that, even with their recent impressive victory over Pakistan and the presence of express pacer Nahid Rana in the visiting team, they do not need to develop a new plan for the upcoming series against Bangladesh. In their first victory over the latter in a Test series, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan 2-0, but Rohit did not take the result too seriously.

“Every group is hoping to defeat India. It makes them feel a little proud. Give them the pleasure. It is our responsibility to consider strategies for winning the games. We do not think about what the other team is thinking about us,” Rohit stated at this pre-game news conference.

“Almost all of the world’s best cricket teams have faced India in matches. So, it is not necessary to develop an entirely new approach,” Rohit continued.

The Mumbaikar was more focused on the Bangladesh team as a whole than on pacer Rana, who can easily reach 150 runs per game. “As you can see, a few new players will be on the team. But all you can do is consider them as you proceed. We would follow the same strategy against Bangladesh, which is to concentrate on our gameplay,” he said.

In that regard, Rohit stated that he will continue to place a high premium on controlling the workload of bowlers, especially pacers, given that the season will feature ten Test matches, including the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar series against Australia starting in November. “There is simply too much cricket to allow your best players to play in every match, even though you would like them to. In the middle of the Test series, there is also T20 cricket to be played. You have to control your bowlers accordingly.”

“We have some plans in place for how we will handle these bowlers. Still, we did a pretty good job of it. We even managed to knock off Jasprit Bumrah in one Test match when we played England. The captain was also thrilled to see some new players, such as Akash Deep and Yash Dayal, who are both a part of the Indian squad and have shown promise in local tournaments like the Duleep Trophy.”

“We have a strong group of bowlers that support us. We observed the Duleep Trophy, and there were some interesting possibilities there as well. That being said, I am not overly concerned about the type of bowlers who are in the wings for us,” he continued.
