In response to Rahul Gandhi’s remarks in the US, Union minister Ravneet Singh Bittu attacked Gandhi on Sunday. Bittu who left Congress and joined BJP ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha elections, referred to the Congress leader as the “number one terrorist.”

Union minister Ravneet Singh Bittu verbally attacked Rahul Gandhi on Sunday for his remarks in the US

“The majority of Rahul Gandhi’s life has been spent elsewhere; he is not Indian. Because he travels overseas and speaks wrongly, he does not have much love for his own country. The most wanted people, separatists, experts in making bombs, guns, and shells, have appreciated what Rahul Gandhi has said,” Bittu was quoted by ANI.

Gandhi provoked much controversy with his remarks on Sikhs in the US, indicating that they might not be able to freely practice their religion.

“The argument is over whether or not he will be permitted to visit a Gurudwara in India as a Sikh, wear a turban there, or wear a kada there. That’s the core of the conflict, not only for him but for all religions, Gandhi had declared.

Gandhi’s comment caused a political uproar, as the BJP accused him of defaming the nation.

Hardeep Singh Puri, a union minister, claimed that Gandhi was trying to “eke out a living” by spreading lies among the overseas citizens of Sikh community, calling Gandhi’s words “sinister”.

Bittu went on to criticize, saying, “Those who want to blow up roads, trains, and airplanes are the enemies of the country and they support Rahul Gandhi. If there should be an award to catch the number one terrorist and the biggest enemy of the country, it should be on Rahul Gandhi.”

Congress reacts to Bittu’s statement

Sandeep Dikshit, a senior Congressman, criticized Bittu, stating, “We can only feel sorry for such individuals. He had a terrible career in Congress as well.”

“He used to praise Rahul Gandhi…and now he is demonstrating his loyalty to the BJP party after resigning from Congress and joining BJP,” he said to ANI.
