Himachal Pradesh’s boy makes India proud in Paralympic Games

Nishad Kumar, a T47 category high jumper, won silver for the second time in a row on Sunday at the Paralympic Games with a season-best jump of 2.04 meters. Three years prior, in the Tokyo Paralympics, Nishad had also won a silver medal. Back in Tokyo, he jumped 2.06 meters. T47 is designed for competitors who have a wrist or below-elbow disability. Nishad’s silver was India’s third medal from para-athletics and seventh for the country overall in Paris Paralympics.

Earlier in the day, Preethi Pal created history as she became the first Indian woman track and field athlete to win two medals at the Paralympics while clinching the bronze in the 200m T35 category with a personal best time of 30.01 seconds.
