New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit the United States from September 8 to 10, marking his first overseas visit as the Leader of the Opposition (LoP). The Indian Overseas Congress has stated that it has been flooded with requests to meet the Congress leader since he assumed the position in the Lower House of Parliament.

Gandhi will be in Dallas, Texas on September 8 and Washington DC on September 9 and 10.
During his tour, Gandhi will have meetings with think tank leaders, academics, journalists, technocrats, businesses, and other members of the local community and Indian diaspora.
“Since Mr. Rahul Gandhi assumed the role of Leader of the Opposition, I, as the Chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, which has presence in 32 countries, have been flooded with requests for contacts with Mr. Rahul Gandhi from the foreign media, academicians, businessmen, diplomats and Indian diaspora. Now, he is coming to the United States for a very short visit,” officially announced Indian Overseas Congress head Sam Pitroda.
Gandhi will speak to a group of students, faculty, and community members at University of Texas. He will also have dinner with leaders from Dallas and meet some technocrats.
People are interested in the states that we (Congress) represent, thus there are a lot of activities planned with a wide range of people. In particular, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, and possibly Mumbai, Pune (if we win Maharashtra) and Gurgaon. Essentially, these are the nation’s technology-focused business hubs. The business and technological communities are also interested, according to Pitroda.
The visit also gains significance because of the upcoming US presidential elections with Vice-President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris being up against her Republican rival and former President Donald Trump.
During his six-day, three-city tour of the United States in May 2023, Gandhi met with members of the NRI community, business executives, and media representatives. He participated in a variety of similar events in New York, Washington DC, and San Francisco. He discussed the future of free expression, sustainable and inclusive economic growth, and Indian democracy during his visit.
