Chandigarh, August 23 – Haryana Chief Election Officer (CEO) Sh. Pankaj Agarwal has said that in a democracy, every voter must exercise his right to vote. For this, he must ensure that his name is included in the voter list.
He said only the citizens whose name is in the voter list can exercise his right to vote.
If a voter’s name is in the list but he does not have a voter identity card, he can cast his vote by showing 12 alternative identity cards issued by the Election Commission. But any voter can cast his vote only if his name is registered in the voter list.
He said voters can also cast their vote by using 12 alternative photo identity documents issued by the Commission. These documents include passport, driving licence, service identity card with photo issued to employees by Central, state government, public sector undertakings or public limited companies, passbook with photo issued by bank or post office, PAN card, smart card issued by the Ministry of Labour, MGNREGA job card, health insurance smart card issued under the scheme of the Ministry of Labour, pension document with photo and Aadhaar card.
The Chief Electoral Officer said the voter lists are uploaded on the website of Haryana State Election Office CEOharyana.gov.in. A person can also check his name in the voter list by downloading it. Apart from this, voters can also get details by calling the helpline number- 1950.
