Chandigarh, August 22: Haryana Police has set up an election cell at Police Headquarters, Sector-6, Panchkula to conduct Assembly Elections-2024 in a free, fair and peaceful manner in the state of Haryana. This cell will manage the election process across the state, enabling citizens to exercise their right to vote without any fear.

Giving this information here today, Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur said that the Election Cell will oversee law and order in the state and monitor several other crucial election-related activities. The overall in-charge of the cell is Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order, Sanjay Kumar, while State Police Nodal Officer, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Security, Saurabh Singh, has been assigned for supervision. IGP Law and Order, Hardeep Doon, has been appointed as the nodal officer for monitoring election expenses and law and order reports. Additionally, DSP and ACP level officers in all districts have been designated as nodal officers, responsible for sending daily reports on specified points from their respective districts to the Election Cell at Police Headquarters.
Explaining the functioning of the Election Cell, Kapur said that through this cell, the implementation of guidelines issued under the Model Code of Conduct will be ensured across the state. The Election Cell will coordinate with districts regarding the availability and deployment of police forces and address related issues. It will also identify critical polling booths in different assembly constituencies and decide on the deployment of additional police personnel at these locations. Districts will send daily seizure reports, election-related complaints, and reports on the adherence to the Model Code of Conduct to the Election Cell. The Election Cell will operate 24/7, including on public holidays and weekends. He further stated that monitoring at various levels is being carried out to ensure the peaceful conduct of the Assembly elections.
Strict police vigilance will be maintained across the state to ensure adherence to the Model Code of Conduct and law and order. He also mentioned that the Election Cell is ensuring compliance with election-related guidelines through the Election Commission’s C-VIGIL app. In an appeal to the public, Kapur urged citizens to cooperate with the Haryana Police in conducting free, fair, and peaceful elections and to exercise their right to vote without fear or inducement.
