Hajipur MP and president of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Chirag Paswan, described lateral entry in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) as “completely wrong” on Monday and announced that he would bring up the matter with the government.

On August 17, the Union Public Service Commission released a call for applications for “talented and motivated Indian nationals for Lateral Recruitment” to fill the positions of deputy secretary, director, and joint secretary in 24 Union Government departments.
The first ally of the NDA to criticize the lateral entry into 45 bureaucrat posts is Chirag Paswan.
He stated that his party, LJP (RV) was “absolutely not in favor” of such appointments, noting the party’s position on the matter. “The reservation provisions must be followed wherever there are government appointments,” he continued.
Furthermore, he stated that since his party is a member of the government and he has the platform to raise these issues, the manner in which the subject had come to light was “of concern” to him.
