Casting for Kabir Singh (2019) was not easy. In an interview, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga claimed that the film was initially offered to Ranveer Singh, but the Bollywood star denied the role because it was ‘too dark’ for him. Shahid Kapoor was later cast, and while the character was difficult to perform, the actor stated that he liked the challenge of portraying an ‘unlikeable guy’. Not only did the character but even a few scenes in the film divided the audience, for example, Kabir slapped Preeti, aka Kiara Advani. Rajkummar Rao now admits that he will never be able to do so

In an exclusive interview with HT City’s Stars today, August 13, when asked what one thing he would never do in a film, Rajkummar stated, “Actually, it would be really difficult for me to hit a girl. I would not be able to accomplish it. When asked if he would have played Kabir Singh, the actor answered, “Yeah, maybe. I would have had a lot of discussions with my director about this scenario.

Maybe not Kabir Singh, but fans would like to see Rajkummar play a grey character onscreen eventually, something he has stated he is willing to do.

Currently, the actor is promoting his highly anticipated film, Stree 2. The horror comedy is a sequel to the renowned Stree (2018) and stars Shraddha Kapoor as the lead, with Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee rounding out the strong ensemble cast.
