“My son called me to inform that he is going to die after being shot”

10 August, Chandigarh: Early on Saturday morning, a taxi driver was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen near Harion village on the Chandigarh-Ludhiana bypass in Samrala.

The deceased, named by authorities as Ravi Kumar, lived in Chandigarh. The driver was shot multiple times by the miscreants, who then made off with his Alto vehicle.

When a police squad and Samrala DSP Tarlochan Singh arrived at the scene, they immediately began an inquiry.

Jai Kumar, the deceased’s father, stated that his son had been a taxi driver for the previous three to four months. According to Kumar, on Friday evening, Ravi informed him that he had secured transportation from Chandigarh to Ludhiana and would be dropping off the people.

“I received a call early this morning from my son, who informed me that he had been shot and would soon die. He also sent me his location, which I reported to the police, and we were able to reach Samrala.

“My son had no enmity against anyone. It could have been the work of some crooks who killed him. Ravi’s father remarked, “We want justice.”

According to the DSP, teams have gathered information about the attackers and will track them down soon.
