- MLA Kulwant Singh Launches Mechanical Sweeping Process of Mohali City
- In the first phase, 110 KMs of A Category Roads will be cleaned through Machines

- In the Coming Days, two more machines will be made available to sweep the B-category roads

SAS Nagar, August 8, 2024: In its ongoing efforts to make the city clean by ensuring the cleaning of the main roads in Mohali with mechanical machines, SAS Nagar MLA Kulwant Singh kickstarted the mechanical sweeping with the two imported machines outside Sports Complex 78, road, today.
Mohali city gets mechanical sweeping machine
The MLA who had successfully started this mechanical sweeping during his tenure as the Mayor of the Municipal Corporation to improve the sanitation work in the city, said that due to the absence of these machines for the last two years, the work of sanitation suffered badly, and people were suffering due to lack of proper cleanliness. He said that the Municipal Corporation of Mohali did not have sufficient funds available to purchase costly mechanical sweeping machines, following which he coordinated with the Urban Development Minister of Punjab who issued the order to GMADA to provide Rs 10 crore to the Municipal Corporation to pave the way for procuring the necessary machines. After getting the assurance from GMADA, the municipal corporation started the process of buying 4 mechanical sweeping machines required for cleaning the city from abroad, out of which 2 machines have reached the city. He said that the remaining 2 machines are expected to arrive by the end of next month.
MLA Kulwant Singh further said that the process of cleaning the ‘A’ category roads of the city with 02 mechanical machines which have arrived in the city, has been formally started today by offering prayers. These two machines will clean 110 km of roads by working around 8 hours a day at night. He said that after getting the remaining 2 machines by the end of September, the cleaning of the ‘B’ category roads of the city will also be done with mechanical sweeping machines.
The MLA said that being the representative of SAS Nagar residents, he is committed to serving the city dwellers diligently and making Mohali a very beautiful city. He said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan is and will continue to make all possible efforts to provide all kinds of facilities to raise the living standards of the people of Punjab.
MLA Kulwant Singh also thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan for giving a major relief to the residents of Mohali by resuming this prestigious project.
He said that the cost of operating and maintaining the machines will be borne by the Municipal Corporation while the purchase of the machines is done by GMADA.
On this occasion, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Navjot Kaur, Chief Engineer Local Government Naresh Bata, Executive Engineer Kamaldeep Singh, MC Councilors Sarabjit Singh Samana, Gurmeet Kaur, Sukhdev Singh Patwari and Aruna Vishisht and many other officials and dignitaries were present.
