4 August, Shimla: The number of deaths from cloudburst-caused flash floods in three districts of Himachal Pradesh has risen to 11 after two more bodies were found in the Mandi district.
A series of cloudbursts that caused havoc on the night of July 31 in Kullu’s Nirmand, Sainj and Malana, Mandi’s Padhar, and Shimla’s Rampur subdivision left over forty persons missing.
According to officials, the bodies of 23-year-old Sonam and 3-month-old Manvi were found in Rajbhan village in the Padhar area of the Mandi district.
Scent detection dogs, aerial drones, and other tools are being utilized in the ongoing search and rescue efforts to find the missing individuals.
There are 410 rescuers in the hunt, according to officials, including teams from the Army, NDRF, SDRF, ITBP, CISF, Himachal Pradesh Police, and home guards.
More than thirty persons are reported missing in the Rampur subdivision’s Samej village.
The rescue efforts are underway, and more machines have been sent into service. Now that the water flow has decreased, machinery have arrived at the location where the missing people may be found.
The state government said on Friday that the victims would receive Rs 50,000 in immediate relief and that they would also receive Rs 5,000 per month for rent for the following three months, in addition to gas, food, and other necessities.
Between June 27 and August 3, after the monsoon began, the state lost ₹ 662 crore.
