Father-in-Law shot dead his IRS Son-in-Law in Chandigarh Court Premises.

3 August, Chandigarh: On Saturday afternoon, in broad daylight, an IRS working in the irrigation department named Harpreet Singh was shot and killed on the Chandigarh district courts property. Malwinder Singh Sidhu, Harpreet’s father-in-law and a suspended assistant inspector general of the Punjab police, is said to have killed him. It’s an arrest for Sidhu.

Harpreet and his wife were embroiled in a marital conflict, and he had appeared in district court for a hearing. This was the third mediation hearing in the case, according to the police.

For the mediation, both families had shown up before the district court. Malwinder Singh asked Harpreet to show him how to go to the restroom during the session. Shortly after, it is said that Malwinder pulled out a gun, shooting Harpreet twice, knocking him to the ground.

Viewers flocked to the site in record time, and footage of Harpreet’s family members sobbing for assistance went viral. In a private vehicle, family members and a few advocates drove Harpreet to the government hospital in sector 16; however, he passed away from his wounds while receiving treatment.

Malwinder Singh Sidhu, the Assistant Inspector General of the Human Rights Cell, Punjab Police, was the target of a November 2018 complaint from the Punjab Vigilance Bureau for taking use of his position and engaging in blackmail, extortion, fraud, and bribery from public servants.
