Congressmen’ complaints over his remarks compelled Speaker Om Birla to temporarily postpone the meeting.

As the House reassembled, Congress MP KC Venugopal said that Gandhi had brought up the topic of environmentally sensitive Wayanad multiple times while serving as the MP for Wayanad. He asserted that Surya was attempting to disrupt the discussion and that he would have to provide an apology for his “false claims” regarding Gandhi.

Mr. Venugopal continued, “House records will prove that Rahul Gandhi has raised the issue several times.”

“The events in Wayanad are not a result of a natural calamity. It is an artificial calamity. This is what Keralan ecologists say, not what I’m saying. ANI was told by BJP MP Tejasvi Surya.

“The Kerala government was instructed to remove 4,000 families from all illegal settlements on the Eastern Slope of the Western Ghats of Wayanad by the Disaster Management Authority of Kerala in 2020.” He continued.

He added that Rahul Gandhi, a former Wayanad MP, never questioned it.
