31 July, Chandigarh: Following the Punjab’s agreement to carry out the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM Shri) project, the Education Ministry has started the process of transferring around Rs 500 crore to Punjab.
“Our team that visited the Education Ministry office has been assured about an immediate release of the amount,” stated State Education Secretary KK Yadav, confirming the situation.
Punjab had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Union Education Ministry confirming its involvement in the project but had previously chosen not to proceed.
Very recently, the state administration wrote to the Center expressing its readiness to collaborate on this project. The PM Shri program seeks to transform public schools into “ideal” model that highlight the 2020 National Education Policy.
