Bhagwant Mann’s new demand from the Central Government.

29 July, Chandigarh: Bhagwant Mann, the chief minister of Punjab, stated on Sunday that the state administration has asked for federal funding for the police because they are stationed at international borders.

He stated, “Approximately 25 to 30 percent of Punjab Police personnel are being deployed on the Pakistan borders,” during a press briefing in Chandigarh. They are assisting the federal military in border areas in about seven state districts. During our discussion with the Finance Commission’s chairperson last week, I made a demand for funding for them.”

The Punjab Police, according to Mann, “needs separate compensation for working on national security and helping central forces in the border areas.”

“We attended two NITI Aayog meetings, but there was nothing for us in the Union Budget,” he remarked in response to a question concerning his choice to boycott the NITI Aayog meeting on Saturday.
