29 July, Chandigarh: The on-again, off-again love/hate relationship between outgoing Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann may ease with the nomination of a new governor for Punjab.
Gulab Chand Kataria, the incoming governor, is anticipated to take office on July 31 and bring with him the baggage of this difficult relationship. Chief Minister Mann, on the other hand, has declared that he will welcome the next Governor with open arms. “I congratulated him on his appointment as Punjab’s governor when I called with him this morning. “I hope we work together, and I assured him of my full cooperation,” he stated.
There won’t be an issue if the governors respect the elected governments’ constitutional rights. I held no personal grudges toward the Governor (who was leaving). When I meet Purohit (former governor of Punjab), I would always touch his feet since he is like the senior member of my family. However, our approaches frequently diverged, resulting in disputes as he would build obstacles to the government’s effective functioning. In fact, after I announced my public programmes in Jalandhar, he began operating a parallel administration by bringing the Chief Secretary and the DGP with him on his border area visits, the CM claimed.
