Mural to boost the participation of women in the strengthening of democracy comes up at Mohali DAC

MOHALI, 21 May 2024– In the run-up to catch every section of voters on June 1, 2024, the mural based on the theme, Mother of Democracy, portrayed at District Administrative Complex, SAS Nagar, Mohali, is attracting everyone’s attention and is becoming popular as a selfie point.

The mural was given a final touch by Smt. Meetu Aggarwal (IRS), Expenditure Observer for Lok Sabha Constituency Patiala, by marking the ink mark (vote mark) on the finger. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Damanjit Singh Mann and Assistant Returning Officer of Derabassi District Himanshu Gupta were also present on this occasion.

District Nodal Officer SVEEP Prof. Gurbakshish Singh Antal, while giving the details of this mural, said that this mural depicting the Mother of Democracy has been portrayed by the Presidential Award winner Artist, Gurpreet Singh Namdhari. The painting shows countless women’s hands firmly pressing the buttons of the “Electronic Voting Machine” and the combination of the New Parliament Building and the earlier Parliament Building.

Expenditure Observer Meetu Aggarwal, while appreciating the voter awareness murals portrayed at various places in the district administrative complex, appealed to all voters to vote on June 1.

The murals in the district administration complex “Panj-Aab Karega Vote, I Go for Vote, Punjab Karega Vote on June 1” have become the centre of attraction for the citizens who come to DAC every day in hundreds for their daily work. Residents and

voters are taking pictures with these images and posting them on social media.

Election Tehsildar Sanjay Kumar said that while these images are giving a message of voter awareness, also promote a plastic-free and clean environment.
